The Move

In all the time I have lived here and all the trips before that, I have never made it to Brooklyn.  In many 'Top 10 things to do' lists for NYC, walking the Brooklyn Bridge is always there .. AND eating pizza at Grimaldi's under the bridge.  Even Paige and her school entourage had that on their itinerary.

There are 3 bridges between Manhattan and Brooklyn.  They are the Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Bridge and the Williamsburg Bridge -- BMW

 

 

This is what we saw when we got to Grimaldi's .. over an hour to get to the front door.  Well, that was not happening!
 

 

So .. we decided to eat at the place next door, it also advertised coal fired pizza.  Lexie starts taking pictures of us while we wait on our table.  You see all the little yellow things on the pavement?  Those are flowers.  A big breeze came through and showered her with flowers from the trees during the photo shoot.  She stuck her hand down her shirt fishing them out, which we called her special move.  A gentleman walks up shortly after and offers to take the picture of the three of us.  Then he asks if we are waiting on a table, we say yes, and he gets us right in.  He was the restaurant manager / owner.  We took our good fortune as result of Lexie and 'the move'.

Turns out, we stumbled on the big story in Brooklyn -- Patsy Grimaldi sold his restaurant, was not happy with how things were going and then bought the property NEXT DOOR and opened Juliana's, his mother's name.   It is a BIG RIVAL that continues right up to today -- see blog, this blog even better! This man is PASSIONATE about pizza. Our pizza was fantastic.  How could it not be with those ingrediants and reading these articles makes me want to go back right now!
